The Palm Beach Gator Snow Ski Club is a group of active, fun-loving, sports-minded people who live in sunny South Florida (mainly Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast), but also share a love for winter activities. Our founding fathers adopted the alligator logo because of its association with South Florida. They did not intend to emulate any University or College.

Message from Kelly Lunsford, President

I am excited to be elected again to be your President for 2021 – 2022.

With summer quickly approaching we continue to enjoy our General Meetings and Happy Hours outdoors.

We have many fun outdoor activities and trips planned for the summer and fall.  Our ski trips for 2022 will be on sale this year at our Annual Picnic.  We have three (3) international  trips scheduled for 2022.

Please join us this summer, get your name added to the wait list for the Jackson Hole and Grand Canyon Rafting trip.  We have a few local trips planned for the summer including Rainbow River tubing which was a hit last year.

I am looking forward to meeting the new members and reuniting with some of you who may now be out and about again.

We continue to follow the guidelines and put safety of the members first.

Kelly Lunsford, President

Message from Carol Pattison, Former VP of Ski Trips

Hi Gators,

Open sign-up is available for all to sign-up for ski trips. We have 2 trips that are sold out but the other 4 are open. Steamboat and the FSC trip to Lake Tahoe are both sold out. Both trip leaders have asked to increase their trip number, but the club has not decided on increasing the trips. Nothing will be added until the other trips have a chance to fill their trips. Vail, Winter Park, Banff, and Solden Austria and Berlin are selling well, and it looks to be super ski season. However, don’t wait too long to make your decision because if you “snooze you lose”. People are ready to travel, and the resorts are ready to give their travelers an exceptional trip. For those of you worried about going to Canada for the Banff trip, we are preparing an alternate destination should we not be able to complete out trip to Banff.

At the Spring FSC Meeting the FSC domestic trips will be Telluride and Mammoth. These trips were both canceled in the 2021 season due to Covid and were rolled over to 2023.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you and especially the trip leaders for being so supportive in my last 3 years as VP Ski Trips. I have enjoyed being your VP and appreciate all the work the trip leaders did in the last few years. You all did a great job and are the reason the Gator’s ski program is so successful. Without you we couldn’t possibly put on such successful trips. For those of you who have not been trip leaders, think about volunteering in the future. You won’t regret it.

At the June Board Meeting Susan Gilbert was selected to be the new VP Ski Trips. I will still be around for any advice and available to the new VP in her new term. I send my best wishes to her in her new adventure and know she will do everything to continue the club’s excellent ski trip program.

Thank you all again and keep up the good work and be sure to diligently prepare for the 2022 ski season.

Carol Pattison, Former VP Ski Trips

2022 Ski Season

Message from Walter Marussich, VP of  Special Activities

Hi Everyone,

Travel restrictions due to the COVID pandemic are less confining due to vaccination programs, changes in political climate, etc. We are seeing an upsurge of pent-up travel demands.

The Scotland/Ireland trip is now scheduled for April 16th to 27th, 2022. The roster is rapidly filling up – please contact the trip leader for availability.

The Thailand trip will be rescheduled later this summer.  We will try to maintain a late October to early November 2022 time frame.  This trip is also showing a high demand.  Please contact the trip leader if you are interested.

A bike and barge excursion to the Greek Isles is scheduled  for Sept 16 to 27, 2022.  This trip sold out in less than one hour during our membership picnic.  Wait lists do work so keep trying if you are interested.

We are expecting to offer an Amazon/Galapagos excursion for early summer 2022. We are looking a trip leader. Please contact me if you are interested.

This summer's  Grand Canyon rafting trip is sold out and the Jackson WY September 2021 trip is also sold out.  Contact the trip leaders for wait list expectations.

Look for either myself or Linda Mitchell at the GAME OF AXES bar the third Wednesday of every month for an evening of axe throwing fun.

Please join us for a unique experience - Bioluminescent Kayaking tour and lodging at a local bed and breakfast in Titusville, FL on July 9th and 10th.

Please review the website for other in-state events scheduled for 2021.

To those of you that remained on our trip rosters despite a year of pandemic driven inactivity, thank you for your patience.

Walter Marussich, VP Special Activities
