Message from Kelly Lunsford, President
Happy New Year!
Many of us are happy to see 2020 go and move on to 2021.
As we continue to face challenges with COVID, the club has made a decision to stay in the United States for trips in 2021. We have a trip to the Grand Canyon and keep an eye out for some other active outdoor trips and activities. Most of our overseas trips have been moved to 2022.
We will continue to follow the guidelines and put safety of travelers and members first. We continue to have our happy hours scheduled at outdoor restaurants. Weather permitting we may move our General Meetings to outside at the Stadium Grill.
I am looking forward to seeing you all and hopeful for us to get back out there again to ski and travel.
Kelly Lunsford, President

Message from Carol Pattison, VP of Ski Trips
Hi Gators,
It is that time of year when our 2021 ski trips are almost finished and time to get ready for 2022 trips. Jackson Hole, our last trip for this season, leaves on Saturday. The board has approved a schedule for 2022. Following is the new schedule:
* All prices are estimated including air, but are subject to change after air has been secured. All prices are subject to change should components of the trip change.
Trips will go on sale for Early Sign-up at the Membership Picnic on Saturday, May 22. Regular sign-up will be June 1. Applications and flyers will be posted on the website when trip leaders are chosen and prior to the Picnic.
The board is looking for trip leaders for the 2022 ski season. A copy of the Trip Leader Application is attached to the blast and is on the website. The Trip Leaders are the backbone of this club. We cannot do our trips without a leader. Being a trip leader is a lot of work but is also extremely rewarding. Think about applying to be a trip leader for 2022. Feel free to contact me for questions or more information.
We are looking for trip leaders for the 2022 ski season and the application is on the website and included in this Blast. Trip Leaders are the heart of our club and we cannot operate without them. While being a trip leader is a lot of work, it is extremely rewarding as well. Not only do you get to go on a great ski trip, but you are instrumental in giving many others a wonderful trip. I will be at the General Meeting at 6:30 to meet with anyone interested in being a trip leader for the 2022 Ski Season. Those trip leaders in 2020 or 2021 may also be eligible to lead a trip in 2022.
Club By-law Requirements, “Trip Leaders shall have been members of the Club for at least two (2) years and have participated in a prior trip of similar complexity as an Assistant Trip Leader. An Assistant Trip Leader shall have been a member of the Club for at least one (1) year and have participated in a prior Club trip. Previous assistantship requirements may be waived for exceptional, proven leaders.
If you cannot come to the General Meeting Thursday, you can fill out an application and email or mail it to me. We need to select trip leaders at the Board Meeting in May to have them in place for Early Sign-up at the Membership Picnic.
A 2022 Schedule of Ski Trips is given below. While some minor changes may be made to this schedule and some exact dates are not known, the schedule should be finalized in the next 2 weeks. Remember, our trip leaders are the very essence of the club and make the Gator’s the Best Ski Club in the State.

Message from Walter Marussich, VP of Special Activities
Hi Gators,
1. Activities open to Guests and Public:
Often the question arises whether or not you need to be a member to participate in an overnight trip. The answer can be confusing. So let us start with the club charter which allows members to have guests.
Due to liability issues, however:
Remember, even though the club offers many activities and services such as trips, we are not a retail store open to the general public. We are a not-for-profit organization that answers to our membership.
In the future, I will endeavor to identify activities that are open to the public, or where guests are permitted.
2. Club sponsors:
Do you have a message? Do you need to advertise your business? Do you just want some deserved recognition?
The Gator Snow Ski Club offers you the opportunity do display the your message in our sponsors page. Depending on the size of your message, a suggested donation is expected in order to help support our website expenses.
The board must approve your message. No vulgar, defamatory statements or language detrimental to the club or its members will be permitted.
3. Trip Status During the Pandemic
Due to the worldwide pandemic, we are unable to determine if and/or the extent to which our overseas program activities will be delivered. Consequently, both the Thailand trip and the Ireland/Scotland trip are postponed. Unless drastic worldwide changes occur, it will be unlikely that overseas travel is an option for the 2021 calendar year.
As most of the concerned travelers know, our Thailand vendor has applied for reorganization under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Your board is actively pursuing recovering deposits as well as collaborating with individuals who upgraded their air.
Our summer travel program for 2021 will include domestic travel options.
Thank you for your patience.
Walter Marussich, VP Special Activities
