Our club is one of the most accessible institutions in the Florida Ski Council when it comes to leadership positions.  We have term limits an numerous other bylaws which prevent the officers and trip leaders from remaining at any position ad infinitum.  The requirements for leadership are simple: Willing, able, and honest.  If you are organized, that is a big plus.  experience? You will have enough soon enough.

A trip leader is nominated based on qualifications and experience by the VP of Ski for a leadership positions to the board.   After examination of the candidates credentials, the board will confirm or decline the nominations. At this point, the VP of ski presents an alternative candidate and so on until the positions are filled.

We are often criticized  because some of our leaders lack experience, history, or expertise in a particular subject.    That is the price we are willing to pay to make sure that  every member that whishes to get involved has the opportunity to do so.

Finally, trip leader training and officer training is offered by the board.

So, if you thought about applying, why didn't you ?

Where would you like to ski in 2018?

This is the time of the year when we begin to plan the ski program for the next season, in this case 2018.

Our Club has decided to participate in both Florida Ski Council domestic ski trips in 2018.

The FSC January trip is to Steamboat, Colorado. January 20-27, 2018.  We are planning for 60 spots and staying at Dulany at the Gondola (Ski In/Walk Out)*.

The FSC February trip is to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  February 24-March 3, 2018.  We will have 32 spots and staying at Teton Village Condominiums (5 min shuttle to lifts)*.

We are considering participating in the International FSC Ski Trip to Sierra Nevada, Spain, March 11-18, 2018 but pricing is not yet in. The FAM (familiarization trip) reports were very favorable.

To these 2 or 3 FSC trips, we would like to add approx. 3 or 4 Club trips.

I would like to know where you are interested in going!

Please send me a list of your 3 favorite destinations via e-mail so I can take your preferences into account while planning.

    Thank you!

First, I would like to thank the outgoing Officers and Directors of the Palm Beach Gator Snow Ski Club for a dedicated and outstanding performance during this past year. They have consistently and courageously addressed difficult and challenging issues. I personally would like to thank Sheri Agnew, outgoing VP of Ski Trips, for her continuous efforts to bring the finest ski program to our Club. She has spent many hours laying the ground work for the 2014-2015 ski seasons.

Some of you have already signed up for these trips. I have! It is only June 2014, but never too early. Here is a brief summary of those trips:

    1)  Steamboat, CO. 12/06/14 – 12/13/14

    2) Lake Louise/Banff, Canada, 01/10/15 – 01/17/15

    3) Telluride, CO (FSC Council), 01/24/15 – 01/31/15

    4) Taos, NM, 01/31/15 - 02/07/15

    5) Zell am See, Austria, 02/07/15 – 02/15/15

    6) Vail, CO. 02/28/15 – 03/07/15

The above trips have been approved by your Board of Directors and several more are in the early planning stages. For more information and continuously updated information, visit our Club’s website at

Have you considered being a trip leader or assistant trip leader for one of our Club’s ski trips? Now is the perfect time. A trip leader application is included in this newsletter.  You can also go to the web site, click on About Our Ski Program, and complete a Trip Leader Application. If you are creative, organized, computer knowledgeable, and enjoy meeting people then you may be the perfect candidate. The benefits are excellent: 1) opportunity to take a leadership position in our Club, 2) fully paid ski trip, 3) assist fellow members to enjoy an experience of their life, and 4) make new friends you will cherish for years to come. Come on, help out…. We Need You!

Now is the time to make a commitment and signup for an upcoming ski trip. I look forward to seeing you on a ski trip this coming year.

You might be comparing the price of our ski trips with those of other clubs, and while it might appear on the surface that their trips cost less than ours ~ they do NOT. Let me address the concerns about trip pricing:

Let's compare Apples to Apples. Gators “Include” lift tickets where others do NOT, which more than makes up the difference in most cases. Also you have to look at air schedules and quality of lodging.

For example, in the case of Ft. Lauderdale's Snowmass trip: their trip does not include lift tickets and they are flying into Denver with a 5 to 6 hour bus ride through 3 Mountain Passes! Gators are flying into EAGLE with a 1 ½ hour bus ride and NO Mountain passes, it DOES includes lift tickets and we are staying at a much more premium property. There is NO comparison!

We even have a $799 5 night ski trip to Keystone this year! (that one did not include lifts as it was an option for 2, 3, or 4 day) But with a 4 day lift it was still only $999!!

So these are just two examples of how our trips give you more BANG for your BUCK!

We are trying to price trips for all demographics in our club. Low end AND High end. And coming next year (2015) we are going to experiment with "Flexi Trips" (flexible) that allow you to pick your options and price! So where do YOU want to go? Let me know because it's time to get bizzy!!
