Camping and Biking Weekend- Lake Okeechobee

Please note that the Gators Valentines Dance is Friday 14th

so there is a partial conflict.

Some Gators are attending the dance, then driving Saturday morning for the bike ride at 10 am and staying for the rest of the weekend.

Bike ride start is  Saturday Feb  15  2014  @ 10  AM  @  access  G 36 on  Hwy   441.  Go out  PGA to  Beeline (710) ..go rt to  [ about 39 miles]  to   County RD  15 B  (SE 126  Blvd)  ..turn left  ... go to   Hwy 441  then    go rt  4 miles to G 36... turn left.  LOOK for signs ....

Optional camping  ..The Pahokee  campground  has downsized so  some of us have researched different venues and decided on the KOA   4278   S US  441  in Okeechobee City     They  have  17  cabins and  numerous  RV and tent sites( tent camping should not be windy like Pahokee)..tent area  #315-321....  9 hole golf course, tennis, bocce, pentaque,  adult only pool,  hot tub,   campfires and the Shanty  Lounge w/live music and dancing.

There is a $4 day use fee if not staying there  ..  reservations

Please  book now as every  time I talk to them they have less cabins available..!!!!!!!. There are also some motels on Hwy 441 near campground.Option :   Can  eat dinner  Friday night ???

Plans for Saturday: If staying at KOA ...Will leave KOA @    9:15 Am    to drive 9  miles from the KOA   for the   Bike ride :   Feb  15  2014     Sat  ... meet  10AM at  Gate  G36  on Hwy  SE   441  which  is 9 miles  from the KOA(look for Gator  flags)   ....  Ron Harris  will be the guest leader....Will ride  paved  bike path on top the dike 7 miles south at 8-10MPH  to the Gator Hole bar for drinks and restroom break  then back to the cars and return to KOA for lunch ..naps..etc  ...   Campfire in PM  @ my  Cabin KL-5  ..near the pool .
