Barley Barber Swamp has long been considered one of the most magnificent old-growth cypress communities in the nation. Standing amid the towering cypress trees, you can almost hear the leaves whisper vibrant tales of centuries past. Once a hunting ground and trading area for early settlers and Native Americans, its history carries a lot of mystery—and the same holds true about the man whom after the swamp is named.

A boardwalk twists and turns through the 400-acre parcel, granting guests an intimate view of this unique ecosystem. Through the partnership between FPL and Treasured Lands, the swamp shelters wildlife, plant species, and a rich floral beauty, that showcases a side of Florida virtually untouched by signs of modern life. So, come explore this pristine freshwater wetland and soak in the exceptional beauty of this unique ecological treasure.
