Camping and Biking Weekend - Lake Okeechobee
BIKE RIDE: February 25, 2023... Start of bike ride is Saturday at 10 AM @ access gate G36 on Hwy 441. From Palm Beach Gardens, drive west on PGA Blvd. to Beeline Highway (710) and go right (about 39 miles) to County Road 15B (SE 126 Blvd). Turn left and go to Highway 441; then go right 1.5 miles to G36. Turn left to park. Ben found an address close to Gate 36 ....10628 US Hwy 441/98 Okeechobee. For GPS Ben has 27.163180.716. He hopes to have bike signs.

Patti Bochniak is the guest leader ' extraordinaire' (Thank you, Patti!) Ride at your own pace along paved bike path on top of the dike for about eight miles. Get off at the next ramp. Please wear your Gator T-shirt or other Gator stuff . We will then meet up at the J&S Fish Camp's Gator Hole Bar for drinks and restroom break. Should be a food truck ( Moe's sandwiches) and band outside. There are picnic tables outside so you can bring your own lunch along on your bike. . Maybe a game of Left, Right, Center (LCR)..bring $1 bills if you want to play. Leisure ride back to cars when you are ready.
Optional camping on your own... KOA 4278, S US 441 in Okeechobee City. They have cabins (but they are going fast) and numerous RV and tent sites (tent camping should not be windy like Pahokee)..tent area #315-321.... 9 hole golf course,tennis,bocce, pentaque, adult only pool, hot tub, campfires and the Shanty Lounge with live music and dancing, There is a $4 day use fee if not staying there .. Saturday Evening meet 6 PM at Ben’s Cabin (The Eagle) for Campfire Social, bring chairs, beverage of choice. NOTE: On your own for Saturday Dinner.
If staying at KOA... will leave KOA at 9:15 AM to drive 9 miles from the KOA for the bike ride: Saturday, February 6, 2021, meet 10 AM at Gate G36 on Hwy SE 441 which is 9 miles from the KOA... Guest leader TBD... Will ride paved bike path on top of dike 7 miles south at 8-10 mph to the Gator Hole bar for drinks and restroom break. Then back to cars and return to the KOA. Ben is in the Eagle cabin on golf course. Campfire at Ben's cabin area.
